So I survived a week of lugging my luggage (haha) all over the place. And I am now in a Germanic speaking country, and I don’t know German. yipee. Should be fun though.
Just got to my apartment last night. Pictures and everything else interesting to come later this weekend.
Il n’y a que deux endroits au monde où l’on puisse vivre heureux: chez soi et à Paris. -Ernest Hemingway
(There are only two places in the world where we can live happy: at home and in Paris.)
So, my mom and grandma arrive at CDG tomorrow morning bright and early. Then we have 12 hours in Paris until our train to Heidelberg leaves around 7ish. Then we go to Munich, then Salzburg and then finally Vienna.
I can’t believe the Paris part to my blog is about to come to a close. Then everything on my blog switches from French to German. Ekkkkkkkk!
We’re taking trains all over the place and going to castles, the sound of music tour, and finally dropping me off at the IES abroad center in Vienna where I’ll meet the other 15 people in my program! I’m sure you guys will hear more about my trip with my mom and grandma when I finally get settled in at my apartment in Vienna, with good wifi (crosses fingers).
But anyway, the apartment here is getting packed up, all my stuff is and Ian is in the process of packing, he doesn’t leave until Tuesday! Such a bittersweet time here.
I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Paris and can’t wait until I get to come back to this amazing city.

This is my last weekend in Paris for a little while. And its starting to really sink in that “oh crap I have to pack” I’m sure it won’t be too much to pack everything, but leaving this place is going to be hard.
Hello! I am currently on the eurostar coming from my 2 days in London! I don’t have internet access, so I’m writing this on a document and posting it in a little while.
Being in London was fabulous! I had a great time staying with some family friends who live quite literally in the center of London. I had a lot to get in, and I have worn myself out. Basically all of Friday I spent on those red tour buses.
As you guys may know the Olympics are in London this summer! So there was construction going on for that. But also it is the Queen’s 60th Jubilee this year also! So Buckingham palace had all sorts of construction going on.
It was really weird being in a country where I could talk to strangers in English. I actually caught myself a few times saying, pardon, on the tube or merci after ordering something or getting directions. I kinda wonder what it’s going to be like going back to the US, I’m not sure if the French habit will still be there or if I’ll start using German? Both?
Anyway, staying with Mike and Shani was great! They were very helpful and their new baby, Kai, is so adorable! Can’t wait to see them again! I also really want to explore more of the UK next time. Maybe Ireland? Scotland?
As I’m coming back on the eurostar I’m realizing that I have a week left in Paris. ONE week. Not too sure how I feel about that…. I am very excited to go to Vienna. I hear it is quite the beautiful city and I’m excited to be surrounded by other musicians. But I can’t help but freak out about leaving Paris a bit. It’s sort of become my home the past semester, well more than sort of, it has become my home this past semester and I’m counting the days till I get to come back. I have a feeling you’re going to be hearing a lot about me leaving this next week. Sorry about that.
Well that’s about it for now I think. I’ll post some pictures too, don’t worry!:)
So I have about 2 weeks of “summer” before I leave for Vienna to study more! It is really weird to have all this time. I don’t have classes to think about, but I am thinking about all the different things I have left to do here! And once I cross something off my list I seem to just add two more things.
Its just starting to hit me that I only have so many days left here. I’m starting to freak out about things I haven’t done, how I’m going to get all this stuff home, how I won’t be hearing French everyday anymore… it will be German! Ha. Then there is the fact that I should be studying a bit more about Austria. I certainly cannot speak french there, and German is completely foreign.
I know, I know I’m still in Europe until July. I really do have some time here, but it feels like I don’t. I’m sure Vienna will be great, no fantastic, but the month of June is just going to go by so fast…. if four months can go bye as fast as they did here, it will seem like I have no time at all in Vienna. Then its back to the ole U S of A.
I guess that is enough of me ranting here are some pictures I took today and yesterday:
